At Team GRETA, we are committed to fostering inclusivity and empowerment through innovative programs. Our nonprofit is dedicated to creating opportunities for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) by offering specialized employment training in the vibrant field of animal care. Simultaneously, we strive to cultivate compassionate leadership and mentorship skills among neurotypical individuals, fostering a culture of understanding and support.
Our mission is to bridge communities, dismantle barriers, and champion diversity through meaningful engagement and education. Through our programs, we aim to not only enrich the lives of individuals with IDD by providing them with valuable vocational skills but also to nurture empathy and awareness among neurotypical peers.
At Team GRETA, we believe in the transformative power of collaboration, where every individual, regardless of ability or background, can contribute meaningfully to society. Together, we envision a world where compassion and inclusion reign, and everyone has the opportunity to thrive."
Together, we work towards a brighter future, one where compassion and inclusivity are the cornerstones of our society.
Our Mission
Who is Greta?
Greta was a loyal, protective, loving, and spicy Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix! The Kata family rescued her from the cruel streets of Houston, TX in 2020. She was in horrible condition when rescued and the veterinarian let us know that she would be a hospice case. At the time of rescue, she was estimated to be 15, toothless, with poor eyesight, and paralyzed. With love, dedication, and a lot of delicious food, Greta’s health took a turn in a positive direction. She worked as a campus support dog for two years. Her spunky personality brought her family a lot of joy. Sadly, Greta passed away in July 2023. The Katas feel so lucky to have spent the last three years of her life spoiling her. Greta’s life is a big inspiration to the nonprofit. The Katas wanted to start a nonprofit for many years and were brainstorming ideas for a name. Team GRETA seemed appropriate because it is also an acronym- Gathering Resources for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
